I would love to shed some light on these calls for you. I work for FIA Card Services in their Customer Marketing division. If you dial this number back, you do NOT get the same person or even the same department that contacted you. Most of the time you get a call from this number because you have a past due account that we service (and yes, we service Bank of America credit accounts, too), or it is just a courtesy call.
Now for those who wonder why the call shows up as State College, that is because it is an outbound call center from State College that makes those calls. However, they aren't set up to take inbound calls, so their dialer routes them to my department.
In short, if you do decide to call us back, please keep in mind the following;
1) the person you get ahold of when you call back will NOT be the person who called you, so courtesy is greatly appreciated.
2) If you decide to stay on the lien to speak with a rep, just ask us to look up the information with the phone number you were called on (your phone number, that is). We'll ask for your name, please tell us. A lot of times it's for another customer who has your number listed. For whatever reason I could not even speculate. So, they may not be even be trying to get ahold of you.
3) We really do understand those collection calls that are going out are a big pain, but I must reiterate that you do get ahold of a real person who did not call you. We are not the people who called you. In fact, Customer Marketing is an Inbound department (meaning we just take calls, don't make them), so please, PLEASE, be courteous to us as we should be to you. I hope this clears it up for the confused callers.
